Wrightwood Skate Park Takes Shape

An initial meet and greet/planning meeting was held regarding the controversial Skate Park in Wrighwood, on July 18th. Earlier in the year the green light was finally given by the District supervisors to build a skate park on a piece of land owned by the county in Wrightwood. The park will be located on Apple between Pine and Spruce.
The park will be designed and built by Spohn Ranch Skate Parks, So. Calif. company that builds skate parks all over the world.
There was a small contingency of residents opposed to the park for various reasons, whose comments were heard and discussed, ultimately ending with most leaving the meeting before it ended.
Local skaters were invited to give their input as to what features they wanted in the park. Which will be designed as a public space, that skaters and BMXers can ride on.

Wish I attended the meeting to add my 2 cents. Guess we'll see what the future holds..

And between Pine and Spruce? Is there any room in that general area? Houses on the south side, cliff to Wrightwood Elementary on the north.

What idiot at the county decided to choose that location for the skate park ? Could a more inappropriate spot be picked ? I think not. Let's see , it has homes on one side that will loose 20% of their property value the day the park opens. There is a motel on the opposite corner whose guests will just love all the noise from the skate park, I suspect that will be the death blow for the Pines. And let's look at just how SMALL that area is to begin with. How many skaters are going to be able to use it at one time ? 10 ? Maybe 15 ? What should we expect the others to do while waiting....sit patiently and wait. Let's get real for a moment , they will be all over the street causing a huge safety issue for themselves and for passing vehicles. I agree that a place for the skaters is a great idea but maybe the county should have chosen a place because it works for everyone instead of picking a spot because they own it already and can cheap out. This resident thinks the park will be a total disaster for everyone.
